Protex Electronic Lock with Supervisor and 7 Codes: Dual, Delay

Safe lock help · Protex

Safe lock troubleshooting › Protex › Master, supervisor and user code lock (Protex sheet with no model name)

Protex’s manual page includes a user sheet for an electronic lock with seven codes: a master code (ID 1), a supervisor code (ID 2) and user codes (IDs 3 to 7), each 1 to 10 digits. It has dual control and time delay options and a 5-minute lockout after three wrong codes. The sheet does not name the lock or the safe model, so we cannot say for sure which safes it belongs to. If your safe’s lock matches this description, it may be this one. This guide covers how to open it, change the codes, use dual control and the time delay, and what the lockout means.

Is this your lock?

  • A keypad lock with * and # keys, a yellow light that shows the time delay, a beeper, and a low battery signal and an unlocking signal.
  • Seven codes: master code (ID 1), supervisor code (ID 2) and user codes (IDs 3 to 7). Codes are 1 to 10 digits long.
  • The sheet describes single mode, dual control mode, supervising dual control mode and a time delay of 1 to 99 minutes.
  • There is no model number on the sheet. If you are not sure it is yours, send us a photo of your safe’s label and keypad.

  1. Single mode (the normal setting): press *, enter your code and press #.

How to change codes

When the master code is changed, the supervisor code and ALL user codes are deleted.

Wrong-code lockout

Three consecutive invalid codes start a 5-minute lockout. Wait it out before you try again.

Time delay (master code)

The delay can be set from 01 to 99 minutes.

  1. Set it: press #, the master code, #, the minutes (01 to 99), #, the same minutes again, #. When a time delay is set, the lock goes to sleep mode.
  2. To open with a delay: press any button to start the delay. The yellow light flashes once every 5 seconds, and faster in the last 10 seconds, ending with 2 beeps. The keypad holds during the delay.
  3. After the delay you have 2 minutes to enter your code and open the safe. If nothing happens in those 2 minutes, the lock goes back to sleep.
  4. Delete it: press #, the master code, # 0 0 # 0 0 #.

If it still won’t open

It will not open and the keypad does not respond

If you have just entered three wrong codes, it is in the 5-minute lockout. Otherwise the batteries may be dead. The sheet does not say how to replace them: call us.

The supervisor and user codes stopped working

Changing the master code deletes the supervisor code and all user codes. Set them up again with the master code.

I lost the master code
